Teen Social Justice Book Club
Do you want to talk about real issues you see affecting the people around you? Bullying, racism, gender identity, immigration, LGBTQIA+ rights? We've been wanting to provide a space for youth to do just that. Sign up here to reserve your space in our Teen Social Justice Book Club. You may sign up for as many books as you'd like, but since space is limited, we can't guarantee you'll get to participate in every session you choose. Books are being provided courtesy of SC Collaborative on Race & Reconciliation, so don't let cost deter you from signing up! All meet-ups will take place on Sunday afternoons from 3-4:30pm at the main branch of the Richland Library (on Assembly Street) throughout the 2019 Calendar Year, and hopefully we can continue into 2020! We believe that youth have powerful opinions about what's going on in the world today, and we want to give them space to have the hard and maybe uncomfortable conversations they want to lead. We think books can be a great place to start those conversations. Some of the themes and issues in the readings could be triggering or too mature for some readers, so we advise teens and their guardians to discuss which books might be best for them. This program is open to all youth ages 12-18.

If you are a teen filling this out for yourself, please list an adult parent or guardian we can contact about scheduling and permission. We know that our youth are the voices that will shape the world to come, but in order to keep you safe, you will need to be signed out of meet-ups by an approved adult unless you are old enough to drive yourself.

This program is brought to you by the SC Collaborative on Race & Reconciliation, Richland Library, and Girls Rock Columbia. Please email Jess at hello@girlsrockcolumbia.org with any questions, comments, or concerns. Thanks!
