Thank you for your interest in the Pittsburgh Good Food Coalition. Led by the Pittsburgh Food Policy Council, we are working to bring the Good Food Purchasing Program to Pittsburgh Public School District.
The Good Food Purchasing Program provides clear standards and strategic support to empower major institutions to procure local, sustainable, fair and humanely-produced foods. The program establishes guidelines for and improvement strategies for five value sets: environmental sustainability, healthy nutrition, valued workforce, local economies and the fair treatment of animals. These value sets are combined into a Good Food Purchasing Policy that institutions can adopt and use to re-imagine the food supply chain in a way that benefits people, animals, and the planet.
Please share your thoughts below about your interest in/ability to participate in this coalition-based work in Pittsburgh.
Current coalition members: UPMC Children's Hospital, Pittsburgh Public Schools Food Service Department, Allegheny County Health Department, and the Obama PTO
