We provide inservice professional development to schools and districts; host day-long workshops for teachers throughout the school year; and support a community of dedicated and knowledgeable professionals in literacy education. In addition, we hold an intensive, invitational summer institute on the teaching of writing. What follows is the application for this institute.
This application is due, including the form, essays, work samples, resume, and letter of support, on or before 5:00 pm on Tuesday, February 26. The application for the 2019 Summer Institute is in two parts. The first part is the following form. You will be asked some general information questions, as well as some longer questions regarding your teaching. In order to avoid losing your work or submitting incomplete responses, do not compose your answers to the questions in this form. Please do your thinking and composing in a format that you can save and return to, cutting and pasting your final answers into the boxes below.
For the second part, please email a current resume and a letter of support from your principal to email@example.com. The purpose of this letter is to ensure that your principal knows about and supports this important professional development experience, and that s/he is interested in supporting your growth as a teacher of writing. Please also attach images or scans of your student work samples to this email, making sure it is clear which sample is which. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Please send your resume, your principal letter, and your kid work IN ONE EMAIL. These are also due on or before 5:00 pm on Tuesday, February 26. Please label this email HTWP APPLICATION PART 2.
All of these pieces are important, and careful completion can indicate an applicant's commitment to our work as a project. Please also note that space is limited for our Summer Institute.
