I support Diane Russell for Maine House Speaker
When Diane Russell first ran for Maine State Rep four years ago, she did so as the cashier at her neighborhood convenience store. At $8/hour, there were no paid sick days, no health insurance and certainly no perks, but she learned a lot about hard work and low pay as a college graduate with countless student loans. More importantly, she developed a fierce loyalty with her neighbors as they confided their struggles, their strife and their hope for the future. Just a working class gal, she gave them hope that maybe there was a politician out there who would bring their voice to Augusta. She has never forgotten her roots, or the people who voted her into office.
Diane has consistently stood up for the Middle Class, fighting to ensure Maine families could heat their homes, restructuring the Unemployment Insurance system to prevent layoffs and fighting for smart economic policy that benefited Middle Class Mainers and not Corporate lobbyists with shiny shoes. A Clean Elections legislator - with no leadership PAC - she will truly be beholden to the people of Maine and not Corporate sponsors. I may not agree with every position she takes, but I know unequivocally that she will fight for the Middle Class and do what she believes is in the best interest of Maine people.
She fights for us because she's one of us. It's why I'm proud to support Diane Russell for Speaker of the Maine House.
I hope you will, too.
