The Coastal Federation's Coastal Stewardship Award is a $1,000 award per student in recognition of outstanding dedication to our coastal environment.
Requirements: This award is open to graduating high school seniors in all of North Carolina’s 20 coastal counties to recognize outstanding stewardship of our coastal environment. Coastal counties include: Beaufort, Bertie, Brunswick, Camden, Carteret, Chowan, Craven, Currituck, Dare, Gates, Hertford, Hyde, New Hanover, Onslow, Pamlico, Pasquotank, Pender, Perquimans, Tyrrell, and Washington.
Evaluation: This award will be made by the Coastal Federation’s Stewardship Award Committee based on the following evaluation criteria:
• Past environmental accomplishments
• Future environmental plans
• Community involvement
• Personal interest in the coastal environment
• Special need for the award
• Personal reference
Essay answers may be up to 200 words. Some questions can be answered in fewer words. Words beyond the 200-word limit will not be considered. Incomplete applications will not be considered. The Coastal Federation may share information submitted in the application such as volunteer activities, community involvement and personal interest in the environment when publicly announcing award recipients. No phone calls or emails, please.
Deadline: Applications must be received by 11:59pm on February 13th. The award decision will be announced in April.
