John Sevier Middle School Instrument Placement "Try-Outs"!
Use this form to reserve your spot at our Instrument Try-Outs! No experience is required or expected. This is a fun event where students try out different instruments with professional musicians to help students pick the right instrument to play in middle school

All Sevier students have two "Related Arts" classes. Students can choose to be in a full-year Music Class (Band or Orchestra) along with another randomly selected Related Arts Class that changes every 9 weeks. This second related arts class is randomly chosen from the following: art, technology, Spanish, stem, theater, wellness, etc. This means that students who are in music don't miss out on other classes!

6th Grade Beginning Band instruments include the following instruments to start: Flute, Clarinet, Trumpet, Trombone, and Percussion (drums). Later into the year, some interested students will switch to Saxophone, Bass Clarinet, Oboe, Bassoon, Baritone, and Tuba. There are two 6th grade band classes and students will be placed into classes based on the instrument they are placed on.

6th Grade String instruments include Violin, Viola, Cello, and Upright Bass.

IMPORTANT INFO...

Students will try out the instruments so we can help find the right instrument for every student. No experience is expected or required... Pick the day that is best for you! Plan on staying at least 1 hour so you can try out everything you want to :)
