1. This is a valid permit only when approved by an authorized Sandoval County Fire
     Department Official.
2.  Permits are valid for 30 days from date of approval.
3. The permit does not relive the applicant of any legal liability, which may be incurred
     as a result of the fire.
4. Failure to adhere to the conditions of the permit may result in penalties and/or other
     enforcement actions.

THIS PERMIT IS NOT VALID UNDER THE FOLLOWING CONDITIONS:
* When Sandoval County has a burn ban in place
* When winds exceed 7 MPH
* When a water source and shovel are not readily accessible.
* When the Forest Fire Danger Index is high, very high, or extreme and where
   woodland or grass land is within one hundred  feet of the proposed burn.
* Burning of any material other than brush or slash.
* On property other than residential property or property that is not leased or
   owned by person completing this form.

General Conditions Applicable To All Permits
1. Open burning is limited to the burning of brush up to 3" in diameter on residential property
     and is subject to all of the requirements above. The maximum size of burn is 3'x3'x'3' unless
     otherwise approved by SCFD.
2. Burning must cease if so directed by any member of the SCFD, Sheriff's Office, or other
     authorized enforcement agency.
3. All reasonable measures to assure complete combustion and reduce excessive smoke
     are to be taken.
4. All reasonable safety precautions are to be taken, including clearing of grass, leaves,
     trees, and other flammables in the burn area. wetting down the surrounding area, and the
     placement of fire extinguishers, hose lines, and shovels.
5. This permit must be immediately available on site during the burn.
6. Burning is permitted only during daylight hours 7:00 am and 4:30 pm. The fire must be
     extinguished prior to shutdown.
7. Violation of the terms and conditions of this permit may cause the forfeiture of your
     ability to qualify for a permit in the future.

Approval or Denial Notification.
Sandoval County Fire Department will send you notice of approval or denial via email to the
Email address you proved to us above.  This email will serve as your permit and you will
need to have it with you at all time during your burn. If no email address is provided, the permit will be
mailed to the address provided.  For any questions please call (505) 867-4581 and follow the prompts
 for burning information.
