2023-2024 // Wisconsin 4-H Arts Camp & Arts Beat Youth Leadership Application          DUE SEPTEMBER 5th 2023

Do you have passion for the arts? Are you interested in further developing your leadership skills? If you answered yes to either of those questions...we WANT you! Apply to be a part of our 2023-2024 WI 4-H Arts Camp Youth Leadership Team

WI 4-H is looking for youth leaders, grades 9-12 (in the fall of 2023) to fill Camp Counselor and Camp Track Leader positions.

1. Camp Counselors (aka--Cabin Counselors) will lead small groups and provide support to campers. The Camp Counselor role is great for both new counselors and youth who have counseling experience... it's a great way to grow your leadership skills! 

2. Camp Leaders (aka--Track Leaders) will  support camp counselors + co-lead the development of various art tracks alongside adult volunteers. This role is ideal for youth with strong leadership experience and/or experience leading art/craft programming. 

Required participation dates (in-person):

September 30-October 1, 2023: Art Youth Leader Training & Planning Weekend

November 17-19, 2023: Arts Camp

Highly encouraged participation dates (In-person):

March 15-17, 2024:  ArtBEAT!

WI 4-H Arts Camp is for youth in grades 6-8. It provides middle school youth opportunities to explore and develop skills in different types of art. Youth and adults to work together to share their interests and skills in the arts and to support leadership development for youth and adult leaders. This year's Art Camp will be held at Upham Woods- November 17-19.

WI 4-H ArtBEAT! is a camp for youth in grades 3-5. Youth leadership roles might be slightly modified for this event, as there is often a lot of support from the camper's parents. Regardless, we'd like to prepare our Youth Leaders to take on leadership roles at this event as well... so hold the date! ArtBEAT will be held at Upham Woods- March 15-17.

Youth staff are required to be available for planning with other Arts Camp Staff members by email, by phone, and in on-site sessions September 30 - October 1, 2023. Upon selection, there is a $100 fee that covers counselor training and camp expenses. Scholarship funds are available. 

Complete applications are due September 5. Applicants will be notified of selection in the first week of September.

What we expect out of our Arts Camp Youth Leadership Team:

  • Work with campers in a welcoming, kind, and friendly way; engage and interact with campers throughout camp experience.
  • Solve problems.
  • Campers come first; Serve others throughout the weekend.
  • Minimal use of cell phones.
  • Be a role model.
  • Be an outstanding representative of Wisconsin and 4-H
