Spring Quarter Work Parties: Thursdays, 2-4pm
Come help us remove non-native plants and restore the forest ecosystem. We will be meeting at the Biology Greenhouses behind Arntzen each week and working in various locations on campus. Locations will be sent out before the event via email.

CONFIRMATION:
You will be sent a confirmation email, as well as a reminder email a day prior to the event. Emails may go to your spam folder, so please check there if they do not appear in your main inbox.

REMINDER:
Please dress warmly and weather-appropriate (layers, sturdy closed-toed shoes, rain gear). Volunteers are also encouraged to bring water/snacks as desired.

WEATHER:
Being an outdoor environmental restoration program in Western Washington, rain is something to be anticipated in the colder months. Though we work in a variety of weather conditions (including rain or shine), we may cancel work parties/end early in the case of inclement weather. Our volunteers are our priority, and should rain/wind/snow/cold temperatures surpass reasonable working conditions, the LEAD Co-Directors will notify volunteers via email of any work party cancellations.

ACCESSIBILITY:
In the Fall, the trails and hillsides in the Arboretum can be quite muddy/slippery and therefore can limit wheelchair accessibility and could pose other mobility issues. The project locations are wheelchair accessible. A main task of these work parties will be removing non-native species (mainly English Ivy) by hand. Some folks may choose to climb the hill to access more of the ivy. Volunteers should take breaks and rest at any time during the work party! If you have any questions or concerns, you're welcome to email us directly at LEAD@wwu.edu.

LAND:
LEAD acknowledges that our events take place on violently stolen Nuxswa'7aq (Nooksack) and Lhaq'temish (Lummi) ancestral land. We would like to give our gratitude to the Coast Salish peoples who have been stewards of this land since time immemorial and want to recognize that many of the invasive species we work to remove were spread through colonization.
