MetroLab Network Membership Application
Thank you for your interest in joining MetroLab Network. The Network has grown to include 39 cities, 4 counties, and 53 universities, organized in more than 35 regional city- (or county-) university partnerships focused on research, development, and deployment (RD&D) projects that offer technologically- and analytically-based solutions for challenges facing urban areas: inequality in income, health, mobility, security and opportunity; aging infrastructure; and environmental sustainability and resiliency.

Please email MOUs or questions to Applications must be submitted by a city government official on behalf of the city/county-university partnership. Partnerships can be regional, including more than one city, county, or university. Applications to add additional members to an existing partnership will also be considered.

To be considered for membership, applicants must commit to the following conditions for membership:

1. Form a City/County-University collaboration within a respective community memorialized in a Memorandum of Understanding, signed by both the City Mayor or County Executive and the University President or Provost. A sample MOU is available here. ( A signed MOU must be completed and submitted before joining.
2. Appoint a representative from each partner responsible for maintaining the collaboration.
3. Through the collaboration, identify and undertake at least three RD&D projects within the coming year. These should be projects focused on technical and analytical approaches to solving city/county challenges.
4. Participate as a member of the MetroLab Network through workshops and other knowledge sharing activities.
