Physics Used in Games
Points Possible: 17
Email *
Learning Target:
*    Students will demonstrate their understanding of how physics play a role in games
*    Students will critique a game of their choice
Success Criteria:
I know that I have met the learning target when I am able to provide a critique of a published game based on the use of physics within the game. I further know that I have met the learning target when I am able to explain how we use physics to make video games appear more realistic.
Instructions:
Use this link to go to Mr. Bowman's webpage that has free to play online games. Choose a game from one of the websites and play it for a few minutes. Really notice how everything moves, how the game really works. Then use what you learned in the Physics in Games PowerPoint to answer the following questions about the game you chose.
1)    Name of the game you chose. (1 point) *
2)    Does your game follow the rules of gravity? Explain how it does, and if it doesn't explain why this is OK. (3 points)
*
3)    Do the characters in your game use acceleration? If yes, describe. (2 points)
*
4)    Does speed have an impact in your game? Explain. (3 points)
*
5)    Does the game accurately use force to determine realistic movements and collision? Explain. (3 points)
*
6)    Do the objects in the game behave as they would in the "real world"? Provide one example where an object behaves as it would, or wouldn't, in real life. (3 points)
*
7)    Are there any mistakes or inconsistencies in the physics of your game? If yes, provide an example. (2 points)
