Cheryl Kruger- Candidate for AEI Secretary
Cheryl Kruger graduated from Morningside College with a B.A. in Art Education. She has taught at Hubbard-Radcliffe Elem. School, St. Cecilia Elem. School in Ames and presently teaches Elem. Art at Woodward-Granger Schools. She is in her 11th year of teaching young artists how to further their creativity. Mrs. Kruger has been active in AEI since 2011 and loves the excellent professional development and personal connections that AEI offers. She is a watercolorist and sold her first painting this year. Cheryl also enjoys writing and excels at using Google. She would like to be secretary for AEI to give back to this wonderful professional organization and help new art educators master the art of teaching young artists.
Katie Mathis- Candidate for AEI Treasurer
I graduated from Luther College in 2015 with a BA in Art and Museum Studies. After taking a semester off, I returned to Luther to finish my coursework in Art Education, which I completed in December 2016. During undergrad, I was a founding member of Luther’s student Art Educators’ Alliance and attended and presented at the state AEI conference several times. I am currently in my second month of teaching, having taken a 5-8 position mid-way through the year in Cherokee, IA. I would enjoy the opportunity to be a part of the AEI board, where I could share my youthful enthusiasm and learn from the more experienced members. What I may lack in experience, I believe I can make up for in organization, attention to detail, and eagerness to give back to and be a part of this incredible organization.
