TRIPLE TABATA

The TRIPLE TABATA has become a Westwood Collegiate Tradition! Since 2013, staff, students and alumni have been participating in this insane workout! Join us on THURSDAY, JUNE 15 at 7:00 sharp and become a part of this annual tradition!

Tabata training is a high-intensity interval training (HIIT) workout, featuring exercises that last four minutes. Tabata training was discovered by Japanese scientist Dr. Izumi Tabata and a team of researchers from the National Institute of Fitness and Sports in Tokyo. Westwood's version of the workout consists of 15 exercises, with a one minute break in between! Each exercise is performed 8 times, with 20 seconds of work and 10 seconds of rest.

This year is special because we are hoping to accomplish 2 MAJOR GOALS.

1. SET AN ATTENDANCE RECORD OF 100+ PEOPLE!

The attendance record is 42 participants, which was reached this past December. Please help us reach 100+ on June 15! Strength in numbers is vital to get through this workout! Let's get as many people out as we can!

2. RAISE A MINIMUM OF $500 for the MANITOBA CANDLELIGHTERS CHILDHOOD CANCER SUPPORT GROUP!

This organization offers support to families that who are experiencing or have experienced the effects of childhood cancer. The Triple Tabata is tough...but nothing is as tough as a child and their family fighting cancer.

Drop off your loonies, toonies or more at the Triple Tabata on June 15. ALL money raised will go to help support this organization.

All monetary donations above $10 will receive a tax deductible receipt (please note that Westwood Collegiate WILL NOT be issuing receipts). We will rotate 1-14. Jump squats will be station 15 and will be completed as a large group!

3. Prowler Relay (new group event).
4. Wall ball.
5. Crossrope.
6. Medicine ball Russian twists.
7. Thrusters.
8. Box jumps.
9. Human saw.
10. TRX tuck-pikes.
11. Push-ups.
12. Bar sit-ups.
13. Burpees.
14. Mountain climbers.
15. JUMP SQUATS: TOGETHER!!!

Important tips!
1. Start preparing for the workout now! Choose 3-5 exercises and complete each one 6-8 times, with 20 seconds of work and 10 seconds of rest. Take a one minute break between exercises.
2. Bring a water bottle and a small hand towel.
3. Get a good night's sleep, stay well hydrated and make sure to fuel up! Complex carbs are always a good bet.
4. Arrive at least 20 minutes early to warm-up!
