The Transformative Language Arts Network (TLAN) is committed to doing whatever we can to make the Power of Words conference affordable and accessible to people. That's why we offer both work-study opportunities and scholarships to cover a portion of the conference registration fee. You may apply for either work-study or a scholarship.

Work-Study opportunities in exchange for a scholarship covering part of the conference fee.
Partial scholarships covering a portion of the conference fee without requiring volunteer help especially for people living with serious illness and/or disability.

To help us remain a sustainable organization, we ask everyone to contribute a portion of the conference fee.

The cost of the conference is $275 USD for members/ $315 USD for non-members. Please note this doesn't include the optional meal package ($150 USD for the conference). We are not able to provide any funds for meals or lodging.

1. WORK-STUDY: We need help at the conference, and in some cases, beforehand. If you're able to contribute time in exchange for a partial scholarship, please check off all the boxes that apply to you. Note: We usually ask for 5-6 hours of volunteer time in exchange. Help staff our registration table during the conference.

Help us prepare attendee packets and other materials (stuffing packets and related activities).

Assist one of our four main keynoters before their presentations.

Run errands and do catch-as-catch-can tasks we need help with at the conference.

Assist with conference promotion during the months of June, July, August, and/or September, such as listing our conference on event calendars, sending out press packets to organizations (we provide the lists), etc.

Crafty? You could help make small gifts for presenters.

6. Because of our limited scholarship fund, we are only able to award partial scholarships/work-study positions. The cost of the conference is $275 for members/ $315 for non-members. Please indicate which partial payment (listed below) would be affordable. To be clear: the dollar amount of the scholarship is the amount you are able to pay. For example, if you choose Scholarship 1: $190, this means you are willing to pay $190 for your conference registration.
