Edison Exhibitors Sign-up
The Edison Lecture Series is an interactive STEM learning experience that engages middle and high school students with the fun side of electrical and computer engineering. Edison attendees learn the fundamentals of an engineering topic through a university-style lecture, then see these concepts come to life through hands-on demos.
Sign up here to exhibit an electrical/computer engineering activity or demo at the 2020 Edison Lecture Series.
Edison Lecture Series

8:45 AM - 9:30 AM | Exhibitor check-in & setup window
9:30 AM - 12:00 PM | Exhibit hall open window
12:00 PM - 12:30 PM | Exhibitor tear-down window
Plan for your demo or activity to reach about 900+ middle and high school students who are able to come and go throughout the exhibit hall open window. Here are some guidelines for selecting the right demo or activity:
1. This year's lecture topic is Embedded Medicine. Demos on that topic are encouraged but NOT required. However, ALL demos and activities must directly relate to the field of electrical or computer engineering. Any ECE demo is welcome!
2. Edison is about the FUN over the fundamentals. We want to inspire kids to learn more by showing them how cool and fun ECE can be. Select an activity or demo that makes your average 12 year old say "Wow - electrical / computer engineers have fun!"
3. Attendees are in Middle and High School, with an average age of 12. Keep explanations of the concepts basic and not too technical. Do NOT bring technical posters with math on them. The more hands-on and interactive the activity, the better!
4. Giving away swag, freebies, candies, etc is permitted and optional!
Exhibitors are responsible for their own demo setup, cleanup, and staffing during the entire Exhibit Window. Exhibitors are also responsible for the cost of any supplies or giveaways they need.
Contact cell Number (for day-of-event)
We will include this brief description of your activity in our program handouts at the event
Does your demo involve drones?
My demo does not involve drones
My demo does involve at least one drone, but we will NOT fly it.
We would like permission to fly a drone during our demo. (Selecting this option does not grant approval to fly a drone. Select this option to receive information on the approval process for flying drones on campus.)
What are your demo's power needs?
My demo requires power. Access to one outlet with a power strip will be adequate.
My demo requires power. I'll need access to multiple outlets with power strips.
I can do my demo or activity without access to an outlet.
What are your demo's internet / ethernet needs?
Access to the regular utexas wifi or guest wifi network will be adequate (this is free and available building-wide)
I will need access to an Ethernet port.
How many tables do you need total?
By default, you'll be given 1 table, 2.5' x 5 ' with 2 chairs behind it.
How much floorspace will you need, in addition to the tabletop?
We will assume your demo can be contained on the tabletop unless you ask for floorspace here.
Do you have any other special needs for your activity?
