Youth 4 Change Summer Social Justice Camp Application
Welcome! We're excited to join the Education Justice Coalition to bring a Summer Social Justice Camp to Brattleboro, Vermont!

Spaces for camp is limited to 20 campers 
Open to middle school and high school age campers of all identities and we especially encourage youth who identify as BIPOC, Queer, Disabled or an historically marginalized demographic to apply! 

Campers:  Middle and High school age youth (12-19)
Dates: August 13-15th, 2026 
Time: Approximately between 9:30am-5pm (specific times tbd)
Location: The Root Social Justice Center,
28 Williams St, Brattleboro VT, 05301 (With potential for additional nearby locations as well)

Application Deadline: Monday June 15th, 2026
Campers may be selected or approved prior to the application deadline

CostSuggested Donations for camp range from $30-$200 
We encourage those who have funds available to donate an amount that fits their needs to help cover the costs of camp AND we value acessibility and inclusion and will gladly welcome campers at no cost to you!

Meals: a full lunch, snacks and a basic breakfast will be provided daily. A secondary registration form will be sent with dietary and acessibility needs if applicant is selected to be a camper.

Camp Description: This is a camp for youth interested in social justice. Each day will offer a variety of workshops and activities designed to support youths education, growth and joy as they develop social justice skills and youth leadership. Workshops will align with Youth 4 Changes core values of Art, Action, Education, and Healing while prioritizing youth, BIPOC, Queer, and historically marginalized communities. 

Our goal is to build community together and support youth in recognizing or developing their own skills and interests so they leave feeling empowered to have a positive impact on their communities such as schools, workplaces, clubs, local government, and more!

We are currently accepting workshop proposals for camp and especially encourage youth to submit a workshop idea if you'd like to lead a workshop in addition to attending camp.

The Education Justice Coalition of Vermont: (formerly the Vermont Coalition for Ethnic and Social Equity in Schools) is a statewide coalition led by a multicultural and multigenerational group including: people of color from various racial and ethnic groups, anti-poverty, disability rights advocates, and LGBTQIA advocates. Our coalition includes elders, students, parents, educators, and organizations.

The Root Social Justice Center is a Vermont based, Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) led racial justice organization centering blackness. The Root prioritizes BIPOC people and their communities by shifting resources to BIPOC for leadership, connection, healing, education and the arts and supports BIPOC led racial justice movement work.

Youth 4 Change: is a multi-racial youth group for youth ages 12-22 interested in social justice, healing, art, youth leadership and more!Our Youth program Y4C is a MULTIRACIAL group made up of youth in our community who strive to create safer communities and prioritize most impacted demographics while elevating youth voices and youth empowerment.

Our Mission: Youth 4 Change aims to empower and amplify the voices of all youth. We reach out especially to youth that are BI-POC, LGBTQIA+, Low income, Differently abled and differently schooled along with those oppressed in any other shape or form. Together the diverse group of youth advocates, stand in solidarity and fight for front line communities locally in their educational systems and abroad on national movements. Using art, outreach, protests, trainings, workshops and correspondence to achieve our goals on racial and social justice.
