Run Club (1st and/or 2nd Session)
Whitestone Run Club

PURPOSE
This club is designed to encourage Kinder through 5th grade students to pursue an active and healthy lifestyle through after school running. Extra physical activity like running helps build a healthy heart and fosters great self esteem. Registered students will run or walk as many laps as time allows on the Whitestone running trail weekly after school starting at 2:50 to 3:30 pm Mondays, October 15th through December 10th and January 14th-March 11th . The club awards each participant for completing mileage milestones.

EXPECTATIONS
Students must be enrolled in the program to participate. No exceptions.
Wear correct running shoes and clothing.
Bring a water bottle.
Be ready to participate with a positive attitude ☺
Parents must attend with Kinder students.

The Run Club will be capped at 100 total students so please get your registration form turned in ASAP.

We will not have run club during inclement weather. Check the Whitestone website by 1pm for cancellations. If run club is cancelled, you will receive an email and phone call and your child will be sent home using their regular transportation.

PICK UP PROCEDURES
Transportation must be arranged prior to the first day. Parents may pick up their children starting at 3:30pm by:

Car Rider - (Christine Drive between the school and portables)- If you decide to park to pick up your child, please park along Christine Drive.

Walkers- walkers who must cross Crystal Falls will be escorted through the crosswalk to ensure their safety. Arranging for neighborhood children to walk together is recommended.

YMCA-These students will be escorted to the YMCA area.

Parents must pick up their children no later than 3:40pm from the designated pick up area. Students who are picked up late (after 3:45) more than two times will be dismissed from the program for the rest of the school year. A warning email will be sent to families before a student is dismissed from the program.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED! We need help with marking students, tracking laps and general supervision. With increased volunteer numbers we will be able to open the club to more runners. If you can help please contact Mr. Saavedra. Thank you.

Drama Club (1st Session Only)
Drama Club (4th and 5th graders eligible) Drama Club members will be performing a Christmas comedy titled, “Robosanta”. This club is designed to encourage 4th and 5th grade students, with an interest in performing, to gain more on stage experience. Interested students should be aware that line memorization is expected to take place at home, and practices will be used to put everything together. Because the selected play has 20 characters in it, the club will be capped at 20 students.

Practices for selected students will be held after school every Monday from 2:50-3:50pm from 10/15-12/10. In addition, there will be several morning practices held the week of the performance only (7:25am-7:45am December 10th-December 12th). The play will be performed for the school at the Wildcat Wednesday on December 12th at 8:00am.

Parents are responsible for providing transportation home every Monday at 3:50pm from 10/15-12/10. Parents must pick up their children no later than 4:00pm from the designated pick up area (front of the school or bus lane near portables). Students who are picked up late (after 4:00pm) more than two times will remain in the program, but their reassigned a smaller part or a crew role that will not require them to stay after school. A warning email will be sent to families before a student is dismissed from the program. Please let me know of any practices you will not be attending.

Honor Choir (2nd Session Only)
Honor Choir (5th graders only) Will stay after school to prepare 3-4 songs. Practices for selected students will be held after school every Monday from 2:50-3:50pm from 1/14-3/4. Students in Honor Choir will perform for Whitestone students, at an off-campus location, and at an evening concert at a high school within Leander ISD. Copies of the music will be provided so that students also work on the songs at home.

Weaving Club (1st Session Only)
PURPOSE
Whitestone Weavers will meet Mondays after school (10/15-11/26) to learn weaving techniques on a community table top loom, pick a loom, prepare the warp, choose wefting yarn and begin their creation!

EXPECTATIONS
Students must be ready to participate with a positive attitude.
Students must be enrolled in the program to participate.

The Weaving Club will be capped at 30 total students so please get your registration form turned in ASAP and is limited to 4th and 5th graders only.

String Art Club (2nd Session Only)
PURPOSE
Whitestone String Art Club will meet Mondays after school (1/14-3/4) to make a unique creation by arranging colored thread between points to form geometric patterns.

EXPECTATIONS
Students must be ready to participate with a positive attitude.
Students must be enrolled in the program to participate.

The String Art Club will be capped at 30 total students so please get your registration form turned in ASAP and is limited to 4th and 5th graders only.

Club de Trote Whitestone

PROPÓSITO
Este club está diseñado para incentivar a los alumnos de Kínder hasta 5° grado a seguir hábitos de vida sana y activa mediante la actividad de correr después que termina el día escolar. La actividad física adicional como correr ayuda a mantener un corazón saludable y cultiva una gran autoestima. Los estudiantes registrados correrán o caminarán la cantidad de vueltas a la pista que el tiempo permita en la pista de atletismo de la escuela Whitestone, cada semana después de clases comenzando a las 2:45 pm hasta las 3:30 pm. Todos los lunes comenzando el 15 de octubre hasta el 10 de diciembre y el 14 de enero hasta el 11 de marzo. El club premiará a cada participante que cumpla una meta de millas.


EXPECTATIVAS
• Los estudiantes deben estar inscritos en el programa para participar. No hay excepciones.
• Vestir ropa deportiva y zapatos adecuados para correr tipo tenis.
• Traer una botella de agua.
• Estar listo a participar con una actitud positiva ☺
• Los padres de niños de Kínder deben acompañarlos.

El Club de Trote tiene una capacidad para 100 estudiantes, así que llene su inscripción lo más pronto posible antes que se llene el cupo.

El Club de Trote no se reunirá en días de clima severo. En días así revise la página de Whitestone antes de la 1 pm para informarse acerca de cancelaciones. Si el club de trote es cancelado usted recibirá un email y una llamada y su niño(a) será enviado a casa en el transporte habitual.


PROCEDIMIENTOS PARA RECOGER LOS NIÑOS
El método de transporte debe arreglarse antes del primer día. Los padres pueden recoger a sus niños a partir de las 3:30pm por:

Estudiantes que van en carro-línea de vehículos-(la circular de K-2 entre la escuela y los salones exteriores)- Usaremos los mismos procedimientos que se utilizan para la salida normal de la escuela. Si usted decide estacionarse y caminar a recoger a su niño(a) por favor estacionar en Christine Drive.

Peatones- Los peatones que deban cruzar Crystal Falls serán acompañados hasta el cruce para asegurar su seguridad. Es recomendable que niños que sean vecinos caminen juntos para mayor seguridad.

YMCA-Estos estudiantes serán acompañados hasta el área de YMCA.

Los padres deben recoger a sus niños a más tardar a las 3:40pm en el área designada para recogerles. Los estudiantes que sean recogidos tarde (después de las 3:45 pm) más de dos veces serán retirados del programa por el resto del año escolar. Un email de advertencia sería enviado a las familias antes que el estudiante sea retirado del programa.
