Big Dog Rescue Project Adoption Application
Thank you for your interest in adopting from Big Dog Rescue Project. We primarily take dogs from high-kill shelters in Texas and send them to the Pacific Northwest and East Coast. Some dogs already have a region assigned to them and others can be placed in either.

Please email us at if you’d like to include additional dogs for consideration or if you have any questions. We will contact you if we believe we have a match in our program for your family.

PLEASE CONTACT YOUR VET AND LET THEM KNOW WE MAY BE CALLING. Many vets require authorization to provide a reference. This may delay the processing of your application.

We are all volunteers and while we make an effort to communicate with every application, we are unable to. Our lack of response in no way speaks of your worthiness as an adopter. We may have an application already in the process of being approved when you apply or another application may simply be a better match for the dog. Applications are good for 30 days.

Do you understand that a majority of our dogs are fostered in Texas until they have committed adopters and will not travel to the PNW until they have an adoption in place? *
We are a TX-based rescue with our target adoption audience in the Pacific Northwest. A majority of our dogs are fostered in TX until they have committed adoptions. To mitigate this, we would love to put you in touch with their current caregivers in Texas. We bring dogs to the PNW as we have foster homes available. If they are fostered in the PNW, it will state their specific PNW location in their written Petfinder or Facebook bio (not their Petfinder location). Our dogs in the PNW are all in private foster homes and are only available to meet with a pre-approved application.
