SESSION TIMES

Two program sessions are offered: morning (8:15 a.m. to 12:10 p.m.) and afternoon (12:45 to 4:40 p.m.) Based on research findings that young girls perform better in all girl groups, we prefer to reserve the morning session for mostly boys and the afternoon session for mostly girls. However, if you have extenuating circumstances, please register your child(ren) for whichever program best suits your family's needs.

    About EED

Exploring Engineering Day is an educational outreach program for children in grades 3 to 6 and parents. To accommodate as many children as possible, we limit parent participation to one parent OR guardian OR adult chaperone per child. This is a hands-on program designed to teach children how to think creatively and to solve real world problems, just like engineers! Children will engage in 4 hands-on workshops. Parents will attend short talks about emerging technologies followed by two hands-on activities in which their child will be participating.

IMPORTANT Notes Regarding Registration and the Program: PLEASE READ CAREFULLY!

    1. This program fills quickly and space is limited. Registration is managed on a first-come, first-served basis. We recommend that you submit your completed registration form as soon as possible. 2. Registration forms will be accepted until program capacity is reached. 3. Registration forms must be signed by the parent of the child who will be attending. This is accomplished by typing the first letter of the registering parent's first and last names. 4. Boys should register for the morning session (8:15 a.m. to 12:10 p.m.). Program content for boys and girls is the same. 5. Girls should register for the afternoon session (12:45 to 4:40 p.m.). Research demonstrates that young girls perform better in all girl settings. 6. Siblings, relatives, and friends who are in grades 3 to 6 may attend the program together even if they are not of the same gender. Simply choose the morning or afternoon session and reference the name of the other child(ren) on the registration form below. 7. Children must be accompanied to the program by a parent/guardian or an adult chaperone who must stay for the entire program. 8. Adults will attend two 30-minute short talks about emerging technologies. This will be the only time spent without your children. Two RPI students will be assigned to each group of 20 children and will stay with them during all four program workshops. A minimum of 5 additional RPI student volunteers will be supporting each hands-on activity. 9. Please notify us of any special needs for your child or other family members. We’ll provide special instructions for parking and will do our best to accommodate your special needs. 10. Before you click the submit button, please verify that you typed your email address correctly. Within one week from the date you register, we will send an email confirmation to the email address that you provide in the registration form below. Please be sure to set your spam filter to accept an email from ruelb@rpi.edu and check your spam filter before calling us. 11. If you have not received a confirmation email from ruelb@rpi.edu within 7 days of completing the electronic form, telephone Barbara Ruel at 518-276-2618 or email ruelb@rpi.edu. If you don't receive an email confirmation from Barbara, we did not receive your electronic registration. 12. A postal letter with final program details will be mailed to all families to whom we previously sent a confirmation email. Please be sure that the postal address you provide is complete and accurate so your letter is not returned to us by the Post Office undelivered.

PLEASE COMPLETE THIS ELECTRONIC FORM FOR ONE CHILD ONLY.

After you complete a registration for one child and submit it, you should be able to automatically return to this form page to register a second child. If you are bringing two children or more children of your own who are in grades 3 to 6, you may bring two parents. All family members will be grouped together unless you specify otherwise.
