Louisiana United Methodist Cursillo Pilgrim Application
What: Cursillo is a 3-Day, overnight Christian Retreat. During the three days, the teachings of Christ are discussed in a climate of joy. Each weekend is interspersed with prayer, songs, laughter, and moments of reflection and silence.

Who: Christians who want to strengthen, deepen, and grow their spiritual lives. Christians who want to know more about prayer, study, and become more comfortable sharing their faith with others. Christians who are thinking about or ready to take a greater role in their church and see what lay (non-pastoral) leadership looks like in action. Christians who want to live discipleship in their daily lives.

First time participants in Cursillo are called "Pilgrims." You will need a Sponsor who has attended Cursillo and attends a United Methodist Church. If you do not currently have a sponsor, we will attempt to match you with one. You do not need to be a United Methodist to attend.

When: Cursillo begins Thursday evening at 6pm and ends late Sunday afternoon

Where: The Wesley Center, 2350 Methodist Parkway, Woodworth, LA 71485
The group moves between a chapel, a convention-style meeting room with tables and chairs, a hotel-style dormitory with twin and full-sized beds and ensuite bathrooms, a large cafeteria with buffet-style meals, and breaks where you can enjoy the beautiful lake and serene nature.

  • Submit your $25 application fee with a check payable to LAUMC Cursillo to Chantilly Reddmann  at 816 Sedona Pines Dr., Baton Rouge, LA 70816
Cost:   $200.00 total ($25 application fee + $175 weekend cost); Checks mailed to: Judy Gross at 537 Rubin Drive, Pineville, LA  71360

The application fee is $25 and is separate from the cost of the weekend. If you are unable to attend the Cursillo for which you applied, or if that Cursillo is canceled for any reason, your application fee will be applied to the Cursillo you ultimately attend. If you choose not to attend a Cursillo at all, the application fee will become a donation to Cursillo.

The cost of the weekend is $175 in addition to the $25 application fee and includes all meals and lodging. This amount will be due when you arrive for your weekend.

We are committed to creating a welcoming and supportive environment for everyone, and we appreciate your understating and cooperation in ensuring that the retreat experience is enjoyable for all attendees.
LAUM Cursillo is staffed entirely by unpaid Christian volunteers. Our volunteers are not trained or equipped to provide medical or personal assistance. Attendees should be able to care for their personal needs and mobility without assistance. Self-care includes independent daily living activities such as dressing, feeding, showering, taking medications, bed transfer, and attending and participating in workshops.

All buildings are ADA compliant and accessible. We do not provide any mobility medical equipment (DME) including wheelchairs, rollators, walkers, or transfer aids during the weekend.
