GERAS DANCE: A New Era of Rehabilitation for Older Adults in Canada
Early career researcher Dr. Patricia Hewston will share how her experiences with older adults and in research on aging from her selection as the inaugural Labarge Post-Doctoral Fellow in Mobility to becoming co-creator of the GERAS Dance program. This session will provide an excellent opportunity to meet trainees from across McMaster's six Faculties and learn about the opportunities that aging research can open to you.
At this event we will also be launching MacPAGE, our FREE online program to support and recognize your learning about research on aging and working with older adults at McMaster. For more information and to register for macPAGE.

SPEAKERS
Dr. Patricia Hewston is an occupational therapist with a PhD in Rehabilitation Science and the 2019 inaugural Labarge Post-Doctoral Fellow in Mobility at McMaster University. She is currently a Research Associate and Director of Operations at the GERAS Centre for Aging Research and serves as an Assistant Clinical Professor (adjunct) in Rehabilitation Science at McMaster University. She is a co-creator of GERAS DANCE: an evidence-based rehabilitation program to enhance brain health and mobility in older adults. She is an alumni of the McMaster Health Innovation, Commercialization & Entrepreneurship six-week Health Innovation Bootcamp and the nine-month Residency @ The Clinic. This presentation will highlight the research and entrepreneurial journey of GERAS DANCE from a local program to a nationwide initiative.
