The Burdens We Carry: Virtual Community Workshop
Join artists and collaborators Jana Harper, Rebecca Steinberg, and Moksha Sommer for a free, virtual workshop open to anyone seeking connectivity during a time of isolation.
Thursday, May 21, 2020, 6–8PM
Using sound, storytelling, gesture, and movement, this creativity workshop will explore the relationship between weight and empathy. Adapted from the in-person workshop series developed by Jana Harper and integral to the creation process of This Holding: Traces of Contact, this virtual gathering offers participants an opportunity to collaborate, share, and explore together and apart.
Jana Harper offers a glimpse inside the workshop:
“The overall goal of this endeavor is to foster empathy and encourage people to connect through their shared humanity. The first step during is to have all participants make a lengthy list of everything they feel like they are carrying as burdens. These can range from international issues like climate change and immigration reform to more personal challenges like paying bills or battling addiction."
Workshop participants must sign up below to receive the Zoom link and password.
All are welcome.
