Thank you for your interest in our Leadership Development Programs (LDP). There are a number of options based on age and previous experience in the program. Below is a brief synopsis of each program, but by no means does it entail everything that a participant will be doing as LDP Participant.
If you have participated in an LDP program in previous years, you will need to re-apply and submit two recommendations each summer you'd like to attend.Volunteer In Progress- VIPAges 14- 17 $85/week- 2 week commitment (does not need to be consecutive weeks)
** 5 week maximum **
Available weeks: 2- 10
As a VIP, campers take the first step in becoming a Y Camp Leader. This two-week program teaches campers about service to others. Your primary function will be working in Cownie Dining Hall; doing dishes and cleaning the dining hall will fill much of the day. As time allows VIP's may help with the maintenance department as well.
Leader Assistant- LAAges 15-17 $300/week- 2 week commitment (does not need to be consecutive weeks)
Available weeks 2- 9
LA is a step between VIP and LIT. An LA will have specific times during the day set aside for leadership training, and to participate in “Tracks” to receive training in specific camp areas (i.e. archery, ranch, climbing tower, building and grounds, and nature). LA’s will choose their Track for the week during which they practice fundamentals of programming specific areas. This is great for campers wanting to learn more about becoming a staff but not eligible for the LIT Program.
Leader in Training- LITAges 16 – 17 $850 for the 3 week program

LIT- a three-week training is an extensive program aimed at teaching teens how to become exceptional Y Camp Leaders. Skill development in leadership, safety, relationship building, character development and program facilitation are all part of their experience. Through observation, discussion and hands-on experience, LIT's expand their knowledge of great Y Camp leadership. As part of the program, LIT's take a Lifeguard course that, upon successful completion, will deem them certified lifeguards.
