Native Wildlife: Cardboard Challenge! Registration
Join us for our first ever, city-wide, Cardboard Challenge competition!
WHO: A team of five youth with adult advisors (maximum two adults).
WHAT: Native Wildlife: Cardboard Challenge! Build a 3D cardboard model of a native animal.
WHEN: Bring your projects to our spring fair “Bring on Spring” on Saturday, April 9th, by 10:00am.
WHERE: Parkside Football Field in Herring Run Park
WHY: To celebrate spring, parks, spaces, nature, innovation, creativity, and sustainable construction!
HOW: Register to participate in the challenge by Friday, March 25, 2022 (two weeks before the event). Follow the established criteria and constraints for the challenge and build your model! Bring your design and your Project Submission Form to the Bring on Spring! event on April 9th, 2022 to participate in a community voting competition. Prizes awarded to first, second, and third place teams!
CRITERIA and CONSTRAINTS!
-Choose a native animal that you’d like to learn more about.
-Research your animal and learn more about its appearance, habitat, and behavior.
-Construct a 3D model of your chosen animal and build it (see acceptable materials list)!
-Your 3D model size must be a minimum of 1ft x 1ft x1ft and a maximum of 2ft x 2ft x 2ft.
-Complete a Project Submission form to display along with your model.
ACCEPTABLE MATERIALS LIST!
-At least 50% of your model must be constructed out of cardboard! Other acceptable materials include:
-Glue & tape (all types)
-Fasteners such as zip ties, staples, clips, etc.
-Coloring items such as paints, markers, crayons.
-Other reclaimed or recyclable materials
