MASSPIRG and the Hunger-Free Campus Coalition will be hosting a Legislative Briefing and Lobby Day on Wednesday March 27th, 2024 at the MA State House in Boston. Please fill out this form if you are interested in attending!

Schedule:

12:45 - welcome/ arrive

1:00pm-2:00pm—advocacy meetings

2:00pm-3:00pm—Briefing on the Hunger Free Campus Initiative (H.1293/S.835) in Room 428

3:00pm-4:00pm—advocacy meetings and drop ins

No experience necessary. We will provide a virtual training on lobbying in the days leading up to the event, and will provide a printed packet of materials, including talking points and a sample meeting agenda. We'll pair up new advocates where possible.

In February 2024, the Hunger Free Campus Initiative bill received a favorable report from the Joint Committee on Higher Education. But our work isn't done. We know that in order to get the bill to a floor vote and passed, we need to demonstrate strong public support from students all across the state, and to fund the initiative, legislators must prioritize $2M Hunger Free Campus Initiative in the FY25 state budget.
