Event registration

OneAID, a grassroots connection and information hub for the U.S. foreign assistance community, invites you to attend "The Impacts of USAID's Dismantling on its Workforce and Families: Survey Presentation and Panel Discussion” on June 11, 2026. The program begins at 6pm ET, but in-person attendees are encouraged to arrive early with light refreshments will be served starting at 5:30pm. This hybrid event will be held at American University School of International Service's Abramson Family Founder's Room (Terrace level - 4400 Massachusetts Ave NW, Washington, DC) and streamed online. (Please note: the invites with Zoom link are being sent in batches. You will receive the information prior to the event but it may not be immediately following your registration. Thank you for your patience!)

OneAID partnered with the survey author, Jaime Oberlander, a former USAID Foreign Service Officer and current graduate student at the University of Michigan School of Social Work, to disseminate the survey. Over 3,700 responses were received, and it is the first survey of its kind conducted in conjunction with an academic institution.

The responses paint a dire snapshot of how former USAID employees and contractors are faring, one year later. A majority of respondents have yet to find full-time employment, have experienced great financial losses, and suffer from mental health symptoms such as anxiety and depression.

The researcher will present the findings and a panel discussion will follow to reflect on the status of the USAID workforce and what this means for the future of U.S. foreign assistance.

Panelists include:

  • Catherine Baker, Managing Director for Strategic Partnerships and Communications at OneAID
  • Lynne Cripe, CEO of The KonTerra Group
  • Angela Franco, President and CEO of the Montgomery County (MD) Chamber of Commerce
  • Susan Reichle, Co-Founder of the Aid Transition Alliance and former USAID Counselor
  • Anne Simmons-Benton, Board Deputy Chair of the Society for International Development United States (SID-US)
