Audition form for Sinbad 2025

Deadline to register is 1st of May 2025   Basel English Panto Group Cellar, Sperrstrasse 67, 4057 Basel  

Performances: December 11-14th, 2025, at the Scala Basel

ROLES:

SINBAD:  Adventurous sea-faring young man. (Can either be played by male, or female as Principal Boy)

NORMA SNICKERS: Typical pantomime Dame character  a British seaside landlady, who now runs the Anchor Inn, Constantinople.    

SILLY SALLY: Norma’s daft daughter and chambermaid – our female “Simple Simon” type character. (Female)

TINBAD THE TAILOR: Friend of Sinbad and Norma’s suitor – kind, genuine and slightly comical. (Male)

THE CALIPH: The Caliph of Constantinople – Eastern ruler, as obvious. (Male)

THE WAZIR: [Alternatively, can be played by a female as a KHALIFAH or SULTANA,  (Can be male or female)

PRINCESS MIRANDA: Daughter of the Caliph – typical princess character, but strong-willed and plucky. (Principal Girl)

PRINCE SAID:  Ambassador from Persia – intended future husband for the Princess. (Can either be [Pronounced: “Sy-eed”] played by male, or female as Principal Boy)

TRACE & SNAFFLE: A pair of bungling debt collectors – typical panto “Broker’s Men” style comedy twosome. (Probably female and male respectively)

EVILENA: The Goddess of Gloom – immortal baddie. Can be played as a wicked witch-like character or a more “glamorous baddie”. (Female)

FORTUNA: The Spirit of Adventure – immortal good fairy type character. (Female)

DEMON OF THE SEA: Underwater Baddie in league with Evilena. A disgusting, slimy, twisted beast. (Male. Smaller part – Act I Scene 8 onwards, probably joining the Chorus until then)

SLAVE SELLER: Egyptian slave auctioneer. (Male or female. Small part – Act II Scene 1 and Finale only, probably joining the Chorus for the rest of the show)

CHORUS: Citizens of Constantinople Royal Entourage,Diamond Spirits and/or Evilena’s Minions Egyptians

3 Chorus members also play the non-speaking parts of WINBAD THE WHALER, JINBAD THE JAILER and the EXECUTIONER 

DANCERS: Sailors
