Morgenstern’s Second Annual Pie Baking Contest
On Saturday, November 16th, Nicholas Morgenstern and Millicent Souris (cook and author of How to Build a Better Pie) will host their second annual pie-baking contest fundraiser to benefit St. John Bread & Life, the Brooklyn-based organization that works to alleviate hunger and feeds nearly 3,000 meals to needy New Yorkers every day. This year they will welcome Maury Rubin of City Bakery fame as guest judge. Maury Rubin was the founder, baker and hot chocolate maker of City Bakery which closed recently after nearly 30 years serving New Yorkers some of the best-baked goods in the country.
The contest is open to the public with a $5 entrance fee and contestants will compete for a variety of prizes from our culinary partners. During the contest, all parlor visitors get a slice of the pie of their choosing, and 1 scoop of Morgenstern’s Madagascar Vanilla Ice Cream for $10. 100% of entry fees—for both contestants and all parlor visitors—will directly support St. John Bread & Life.
