CSO Conducting Workshop Application
Our conducting workshop provides a valuable opportunity for new and established conductors, music teachers, students and interested members of the public to learn more about the technique and skills required by conductors.
Led by CSO Chief Conductor, Benjamin Northey and with the CSO musicians, the afternoon session has 2 components:
• An initial talk by Benjamin
• A open masterclass where 4 participants will conduct a small orchestra and be tutored by Benjamin

Wednesday 24th July
Ron Ball Studio, Christchurch Town Hall
86 Kilmore Street

To apply to conduct in the workshop, please fill in following form. Applications close on Friday 14th June
Selected participants will be notified by Monday 1st July.

Participants may select one piece or movement from the following works:
• Verdi's Force of Destiny
• Tchaikovsky's Romeo and Juliet Overture
• Mendelssohn's Hebrides Overture

There is an expectation that participants will demonstrate a genuine interest in learning about conducting, sitting in on rehearsals and attending CSO concerts; and are encouraged to attend the concert of the workshop week, Lamb & Hayward Masterworks: Spirit of Adventure.
