Joliet Registered Voters Say NO
This petition was created by local neighbors opposed to additional warehousing and/or truck stop development in Joliet (or in currently unincorporated jurisdiction proposed to be annexed into the city of Joliet). The developments in question include (but are not limited to) the Love's Travel Stop at Briggs and I-80 and the 100+ acres at Spencer and Cherry Hill Roads that are proposed to be annexed into the city of Joliet and developed into industrial warehousing.

WHO SHOULD SIGN:
This petition is for individuals 18 and older who currently reside WITHIN the CITY LIMITS of Joliet and who OPPOSE the developments described above. If you live in unincorporated areas or are not a resident of the city of Joliet, please understand that we are trying to show the city council that their voting constituents care about this development. There are many other petitions that are inclusive of everyone - and we encourage you to sign those.

WHY:
Some of the reasons we are opposed to this type of development is due to the current lack of funding for infrastructure improvements, current dilapidated state of roads and vehicle capacity, low-quality jobs and the inherent risk to public safety resulting from traffic congestion and poorly maintained infrastructure.

The city of Joliet is not concerned with the opinions of those who do not live within their incorporated city limits because those individuals ultimately have no recourse when the City of Joliet annexes unincorporated land for these types of developments.

PURPOSE:
Our purpose is to show Joliet council members that opposition to these types of developments is not solely coming from individuals who live in unincorporated areas. We want to show the council members that they will face repercussions in the voting booth if they continue to support irresponsible developments.

If YOU will be voting in the upcoming election, reside in the City of Joliet, and are opposed to irresponsible development, please complete the form to sign the petition to let Joliet Council members know they CAN and WILL be replaced if they do not serve the will of the people.

MESSAGE TO JOLIET COUNCIL MEMBERS:
We are signing this petition to tell you to STOP annexing and approving industrial warehousing and truck stop developments like Love's. We need the City to make responsible choices, and continuing to approve developments like these mentioned pose a detriment to not just the city of Joliet, but the entire county and those who travel our stretch of I80. IF you continue to approve developments such as these, we will take action to vote you out.

As a reminder, this is how many people voted for you in the last election:
