Anakbayan Melbourne is the comprehensive national-democratic mass organisation of the Filipino youth based in Melbourne, Australia (on unceded Aboriginal land of the Wurundjeri people, Naarm of the Kulin nation) that seeks to arouse, organise and mobilise young Filipino workers, students, professionals, migrants, and national minorities for national democracy and to merge this movement with the powerful movement of the toiling masses. The majority of the youth comes from the laboring class who are the most determined in winning national democracy towards socialism. Anakbayan recognizes the historical role of the youth as a powerful force that advocates and advances social change against a rotten and old social system.
Anyone can be a member from 13-35 years old. Allies and non-Filos are also encouraged to join to support this powerful movement that stretches from across the diaspora to the Philippines.
Anakbayan has chapters all over the Philippines and in Australia (Melbourne/Naarm, Sydney/Gadigal, Western Australia/Boorloo), and the wider global diaspora.
