Submit a short (500 word) position paper answering one or more of the following questions: To what extent is authoritarianism evident in the current political situation? Is authoritarianism on the rise in the US? What role should activism play in this political situation? What role should deliberation play in this political situation? How should we, as communication scholars, navigate the relationship between activism and deliberation? These submissions are not competitive submissions; instead, they provide the basis for 3-5 minute presentations by all participants that will be followed by facilitated, small group discussions during the preconference.
