Healing & Belonging: Centering NYU's Asian Community
In the wake of the rise of Anti-Asian hate, NYU’s current Asian/Asian-American population has been asking for an intentional spiritual healing and racial justice space. Asian/Asian-American students at NYU deserve intersectional support specific to their cultural, racial, and religious needs. This program intends to provide that space.

This 8-week fellowship provides students the opportunity to center and nurture their own healing from the impact of racism, while celebrating the myriad identities and cultures they represent. There will be an emphasis on exploring the vast spectrum of experiences across AAPI identities, strengthening solidarity across differences. The program will conclude by providing the building blocks for Asian/Asian-American students to support one in healing, community building, and collective action another across religious and ethnic traditions.

Held and supported by a container of spiritual healing modalities, this program goes beyond a standard anti-racism training but one of transformative emotional, mental, and embodied change. Through this approach, the initial seeds of normalizing the celebration and centering of the AAPI community will take root for NYU Asian/Asian-American student leaders, perpetuating lasting cultural change.

This fellowship will run from on Wednesdays, June 8 to July 27th, from 6 to 7:30pm ET on Zoom. Fellows will receive a stipend of $500 upon successful participation in and completion of the program.

The application deadline is Friday, May 27, 2022

This opportunity has been funded by Interfaith Youth Core and The Asian American Foundation.
