The daily tightrope walk of a school psychologist who doubles as parent is a masterclass in juggling. Caseloads overflowing with IEPs, assessments, and behavioral interventions clash with the relentless demands of parenthood: school pickups, bedtime routines, and the ever-present "mommy!" (or "daddy!") The emotional toll is real, as the professional empathy poured out all day leaves little in the tank for the tiny human(s) at home. Time becomes a precious, elusive commodity, leaving many feeling perpetually stretched thin, battling guilt and exhaustion in a constant quest for an impossible balance.
Balancing both creates questions that we are hoping to answer. By completing this form, you are helping us (Dr. Merenda and Dr. Gilbert) learn more about how we can truly create balance between being a present parent and a present psychologist.
Results and strategies for success will be shared as this project continues.
