General Event Information
Nestled in Hoosier National Forest, Ransburg Scout Reservation is located on the beautiful Monroe Reservoir near Bloomington, Indiana. This will be an excellent opportunity for those in need of fulfilling the Second Class requirement of a five mile hike. For others who wish to get in some backpacking practice, a separate group will hike out of base camp and sleep on the trail. We will also be getting a "sneak peak" of the summer camp we will be attending next summer.

*For the AOL Scouts we ask that either you as the parent/guardian attend the event with them or appoint a designated guardian for your Scout.
Activities
For Second Class rank requirement 3b:
"Using a compass and map together, take a 5-mile hike approved by your adult leader and your parent or guardian."
We will go on a day hike, using the reservations 5-mile loop, to fulfill this requirement. Any spare time will be spent exploring this new scout camp.
For those who need/want some backpacking practice, you will hike out on the trail, set up camp, and sleep on the trail for the night. Then hike back to base camp in the morning. Hiking backpack recommended if you plan to take part in this activity. The troop has a limited number of hiking backpacks that can be lent out, please reach out to Megan Leen(513.317.4653) for availability.
Cost
$15 per Scout or adult
(PayPal - treasurer@troop112cincy.org) - Please "send money to a friend" so the troop is not charged a transaction fee if you use a credit card with PayPal
Food
Scouts will eat by patrols and will be responsible for planning breakfast on Saturday, lunch on Saturday, dinner on Saturday, and a cold breakfast on Sunday. The troop will provide Cracker Barrel (snacks) on Friday and Saturday night. AOL's will eat with one of the patrols and can assist in the cooking if they'd like. Troop Guides will assist the Purple Pinecones and Sloths with their meals and cooking.
Gear
This is a good list for a cold weather backpacking trip.

Look at this list as guidance, not required checkoffs where every single little thing on the list absolutely must be packed:
