The Burke Foundation, in partnership with the New Jersey Health Care Quality Institute, will be launching the Maternal Infant Health (MIH) Hub, a policy and learning collaborative dedicated to strengthening midwifery practice and promoting birth equity and justice in New Jersey. The Hub will provide various opportunities for participation, including the MIH Midwifery Collaborative and Policy Spotlight sessions.
To provide expertise and oversight for the Hub, a 12-member Hub Advisory Board (“Hub Board”) will be established. The mission of the Hub Board is to address current midwifery practice and provide guidance to support equitable pregnancy and birthing care in NJ. Members of the Hub Board will work to support the advancement of key recommendations founded in the Delivering Better Care: Midwifery Practice in New Jersey Report, along with determining primary areas of focus for implementing policy change. The Hub Board will also be responsible for guiding the MIH Midwifery Collaborative, a collective of midwives and stakeholders that will convene and strategize best practices for midwifery policy, practice, and integration. Additionally, Hub Board members will provide assistance on developing a policy- and advocacy-focused midwifery fellowship to assist early-career midwifery leaders.
Requirements: The Hub Board will meet quarterly for two hours. Board members will be expected to spend an additional 1-to-3 hours each quarter reviewing pertinent materials and responding to Hub Board-related email correspondence. The term of service is two years, with the option to renew for a third year. Meetings will include a virtual participation option and may be held in person, safety permitting. Board members who participate in the pre-work and the meetings will receive a stipend of $250 quarterly.
