The mission of the Kahshe and Bass Lakes Association (KBLA) is to protect and enhance all aspects of the quality of life on Kahshe and Bass Lakes and their immediate surroundings and to provide representation for the membership to Municipal and Government bodies.

Duty to Act with Honesty and Integrity

Directors are expected to act with honesty and integrity, always prioritizing the best interests of the organization and must not use their position for personal gain or act with an improper purpose. Every Director and Officer of the Association is required to carry out their duties with honesty, good faith, and a commitment to the Association’s well-being. They must exercise the same level of care, diligence, and skill that a reasonably prudent person would in similar circumstances.

A conflict of interest arises when a director stands to benefit financially or otherwise from their position. It is essential to recognize and disclose any potential conflicts to maintain transparency and uphold the integrity of the board.

Board Meetings

Active participation in board meetings is crucial to ensuring a well-functioning and effective board. The board typically holds 6 to 8 meetings per year, with virtual meetings conducted on weeknights via Zoom from 7:00 PM to approximately 9:00 PM. During the cottage season, in-person meetings may be scheduled on Saturday mornings.

Committee Involvement

To support the mission and ongoing stewardship of Kahshe Lake, all board members are required to actively participate in at least one committee. These committees play a vital role in reporting to the KBLA and contributing to the enjoyment, preservation, and continued success of the lake community. They are:

In addition, the KBLA runs the Annual General Meeting and Regatta and lends support to the Fishing Derby, Housey's Rapids Picnic and other events upon request.
