NDC HALL OF FAME
An award to honor NDC lifers (or near-lifers). Volunteers and partner organizations who have worked on 10 or more projects, or have served at least 20 hours a year for 10 consecutive years are eligible. Volunteers are anyone who commits unpaid time to NDC, including design volunteers, community partners, and board members.
VOLUNTEER OF THE YEAR AWARD
Volunteers are the people who make NDC projects happen! Know one who's recently gone the extra mile? Nominate them based on their service during the 2019 calendar year. This award goes to two design volunteers each year—one from the Baltimore and one from the Prince George's office—who have gone above and beyond the NDC mission through their contributions of time, effort, and attitude towards NDC projects.
BALTIMORE COMMUNITY ADVOCATE OF THE YEAR AWARD
Put simply, NDC wouldn't exist without the dedication of our amazing community partners. This award was created to honor a community member who has been a champion for their neighbors and space. Nominate that person or organization based on their contributions to the Baltimore community during 2019. This award goes to a community partner, an individual or organization, who has demonstrated advocacy, vision, leadership, and inclusivity through participation in NDC initiatives or projects.
KELLEY OKLESSON COMMUNITY ADVOCATE OF THE YEAR AWARD
This award gets its name from a former NDC Prince George’s County staff member who modeled the qualities it seeks to recognize: advocacy, vision, leadership, and inclusivity. Like the Baltimore equivalent, this award goes to a community partner, an individual or organization based on their participation in NDC initiatives or projects in Prince George’s County during the 2019 calendar year.
THE LARRY REICH AWARD
The Larry Reich Award is given annually by the Baltimore NDC office and Baltimore City Planning to an individual whose volunteer and professional work exemplifies a special commitment to community-based planning and design. The Award was established by colleagues of long-time Baltimore City Planning Director Larry Reich to commemorate his pioneering concern for “bottom-up” inclusion of grassroots groups in neighborhood initiatives. Larry Reich was Baltimore’s Planning Director from 1965-1990 and was a central figure in the City’s Downtown Renaissance.
THE PRINCE GEORGE'S LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD
Inspired by the Larry Reich Award, this award celebrates an individual who has demonstrated commitment to a grassroots approach to neighborhood initiatives throughout their volunteer or professional career in the Prince George's County region.
