As advocates for children, youth and families who have faced inordinate challenges, financial and otherwise, in recent times, we urge Governor Whitmer to stand with us and oppose state tax cuts that would threaten efforts to advance priorities in fundamental service areas, including mental health, education and out-of-school learning, child care and workforce readiness. The current state budget surplus presents a critical opportunity to invest in the long-suffering needs that affect young people and families in every community across our state. We support Governor Whitmer in vigorously opposing any tax cuts at this time, and to prioritize tax policies that benefit families who shoulder the greatest challenges.
