I, the undersigned, proudly support Ke Kula Kaiapuni o Pūʻōhala, and we call on the Hawaiʻi Department of Education to:
1. Actualize a fully-articulated and funded, FAFKE-aligned, PreK-12 Kula Kaiapuni program within the Castle Complex.
2. Keep our Pūnana Leo o Koʻolau Poko preschool together as at least two classrooms at Pū’ōhala so our youngest keiki can stay connected to the Kaiapuni pathway.
Let us not forget: Kāneʻohe was once a place where ʻōlelo Hawaiʻi was spoken in every home, regardless of ethnicity. This community was filled with Hawaiians, Portuguese, Japanese, Chinese, and others — all fluent in the language of this land.
That legacy was taken from us. We believe it’s time to restore it.
