Worldwide Children Festival

The Association for Education and Science Kleine Schule and Bucharest City Hall, Romania, have the honor to host the first edition of the Worldwide Children Festival, organized in Romania.
Worldide Children Festival - Romanian edition will take place between June 7 - 10, in Izvor Park, Bucharest, Romania.

Event program:

The festival will take place between June 7 and 10, for 4 days, with 4 categories, as it follows:
Day 1. Music
Day 2. Arts
Day 3. Sciences
Day 4. Theater

Entry for local participants is free of charge. international participants won't have enssured the transportation, accommodation and meals, they will have to provide them by themselves.

The finalists will receive cash prizes as it follows:

First place: 500 euros
Second place: 300 euros
3rd place: 150 euros
Mention: 50 eur


Competition rules

• The competition will have the registration period for each category starting with 26 February, starting with 08:00 (Romanian time) until 15 April, by 00:00, (Romanian time).
• The winners will be announced by April 30, until 00:00 (Romanian time)
• Announced winners are asked to return with a confirmation e-mail to the festival official e-mail (festival@kleine-schule.ro), confirming the participation for the chosen category.
• The confirmation e-mail will be sent within 5 days of receipt of the notice of participation in the competition.
• All participants in the selection process will be informed of the score obtained.
• All forms will be completed and submitted online, any form sent to a physical address will be not accepted.
• Registration forms for each category will be uploaded online
• Each participant can enroll only once with a single- work, in a single category.

Eligibility

Individuals meeting the following conditions are eligible to participate in the competition
• All participants must be aged between 6 and 19.
• Minor participants must be accompanied by an adult.
• All participants must be English speakers, level A2 at least.


Risk of Disqualification

Participants who deviate from the rules of the competition and the registration rules for each category will be automatically disqualified without the right to re-enroll.

Rules for enrollment in the competition

Day 1. Music
Selection mode:
Participants must submit a video recording (supported format: MP4) in which they sing live song with lyrics.
Participants can participate in this section with their own creation or another piece of work.
Participants can accompany themselves to an instrument.
The accompaniment to an instrument is optional, not compulsory.
The track may last at least 2.5 minutes and 5 minutes maximum
All participants will perform live on the contest
All participants will perform with their own instruments if they decide to sing with an instrument  The song can be singed in the participant's native language or in English.
NOTE * The enrollment will necessarily be accompanied by a translation of the song in English, as well as a descriptive letter regarding the motivation of choosing the song.

The videos will be judged by a committee of three jurors, specialists in the music. Each juror will award a score on a scale of 1 to 10, and the final mark will be the sum of the three scores. The maximum score can be 30 and the minimum score can be 0.
At this section, up to 30 participants will be selected in the selection process.

Day 2. Arts
Selection mode:
Eligible works: drawings in pencil, watercolor, oil or computer graphics.
If the participants decide to enroll in a contest with a pencil, watercolor or oil work, they must submit the paper with which they will enroll in the competition, in physical form, at the following address: Kleine Schule Association for Education and Science, Geneva Entrance, nr. 5, Bucharest, Romania, attic, District 1. As a back-up version, participants will send a scan of the paper online at: festival@kleine-schule.ro
If participants decide to enroll in a contest with a graphic work, they will send the paper to: festival@kleine-schule.ro
• Dimensions accepted for oil: 60 cm*45 cm
• Accepted dimensions for graphics, pencil, watercolor : A3 format, 29,7 cm x 42 cm.
Participants can participate in this section only with their own creation.

Re-interpreting other famous works will not be accepted
All compositions will be related to the theme of the festival: “School: what would I keep and what would I change?”

The papers will be judged by a committee of three jurors, specialists in arts. Each juror will award a score on a scale of 1 to 10, and the final mark will be the sum of the three scores. The maximum score can be 30 and the minimum score can be 0.
At this section, up to 30 participants will be selected in the selection process.

Day 3. Sciences
Selection mode
The whole process will be filmed (MP4 format), the video will represent the enrollment in the contest and will be accompanied by a research file.
The papers related to this category must be done individually, no work done in the team is accepted.
The papers will be judged by a committee of 3 jurors, scientists. Each juror will award a score on a scale of 1 to 10, and the final mark will be the sum of the three scores. The maximum score can be 30 and the minimum score can be 0.
At this section, up to 30 participants will be selected in the selection process.

Theme: Life on Earth
Approach:
• The theme can be approached simplistically by following a life cycle of a plant, animal or human. Here the approach will be a scientific one regarding the phenomen that occur in the development of the chosen subject.
• At the same time, you can choose topics such as hybrid plants, animal-animal impersonations, human abnormalities in the life cycle, and the new life cycle of the Saudi Arabian citizen's robot.

Points to view:
• Current state.
• What does it mean to be alive? The plants have a life? What is the soul?
• Human intervention on the chosen lifecycle, what it consists of and what effects it has.
• Personal opinion.

Bonus points:
• Innovative and courageous approach, accompanied by pros and cons where there are dilemmas of ethics, morality.
• The creative way of the presentation.

Presentation:
• Plagiarism on the internet is prohibited. The Internet can be used for documentation but the material needs to be made by you directly.
• We also get powerpoint presentations, but we appreciate short films that tell us the story briefly, or you can present us with an experiment on the topic chosen.
• Obligatory accompanies the submission of the researcher file.

Day 4. Theater
Selection mode
Participants will enroll with a video, MP4 format, in which they will play a theatrical piece in English.
Please note, interpreting is not accepted in another foreign language.
The length of the video can be:
• Minimum: 10 minutes
• Maximum: 15 minutes

Theme: “School, from my point of view.”

Participants can approach any form of theater from the following: classical theater, dance theater, forum theater, improvisation theater, musical theater, monologue.
In case of choosing a form of theater involving the participation of more than one person, the registration will be made by a single member of the team, who will keep in touch with the organizing team through the selection / contest period.
Participants can address any theme in their interpretation.
The submitted work will be judged from a committee consisting of 3 jurors, theater art specialists. Each juror will award a score on a scale of 1 to 10, and the final mark will be the sum of the three scores. The maximum score can be 30 and the minimum score can be 0. At this section, up to 30 participants will be selected in the selection process.
