Have you read and understood the official rules of Stonewall Kickball - Richmond, as laid out in the Stonewall Kickball rulebook?
No (in which case... go read them and come back to this afterwards!)
Explain the purpose of the safety base.
Runners are required to always touch the safety base when running to 1st Base.
Runners are required to touch the safety base unless a fielder is blocking the safety base, the runner is advancing to 2nd base, or there is no fielder on 1st base.
Runners are allowed to choose either of the two bases at 1st base any time.
If the runner touches the safety base at the same moment the baseman has control of the ball, the runner is...
Safe (the tie goes to the runner)
Out (the tie goes to the fielder)
The decision is made with a coin toss.
What call is made if the ball makes contact at or above the kicker's knee?
If a runner goes from first base to second base, but failed to tag up after a catch is made, that runner...
... must return to the starting base before being touched by the ball or being tagged out at the base.
...must return to their starting base, while the game is paused. Play resumes when the runner is back at first.
...is safe as long as the runner reached the base before the catch.
If a player tags up from second base after a ball is caught in the outfield and the fielding team tags third base before the runner reaches the base, the runner is.....
Safe (the runner was not forced to run if a catch is made and must be tagged by the ball)
Out (the fielding team has the advantage since the runner left the base)
If the pitcher rolls the ball from behind the rubber strip, but steps in front of the strip during the follow-through before the ball is kicked the play is considered....
Check all scenarios that would constitute a fair ball.
The ball rolls on the left side of third base after being kicked.
The ball hits first base.
The ball touches the catcher in foul territory and then rolls into fair territory.
An outfielder attempts to catch a ball in fair territory but drops the ball and it rolls into foul territory.
A ball starts in fair territory but spins into foul before reaching first or third base without anyone touching it.
A ball starts in fair territory but spins into foul after reaching first or third base without anyone touching it.
A ball accidentally hits the kicker's shin while the kicker tries to move out of the way and rolls in front of home plate
A base ref should make one of these calls during EVERY play.
Safe, Out, Fair, or Foul
Safe, Hey Gurl, Fair, Gross
FaceTime, Out, Cat Call, Foul
Which of these runners is safe?
A runner that ran to 3rd base while a kicked ball was still in the air. The kicked ball was caught, and the fielders tag 2nd base.
A runner that is hit in the head while running home and was not sliding.
A runner that was forced to run to second but tagged with the ball by the pitcher.
The kicker is out if they accumulate 3 strikes or 4 fouls.
If a kicker is injured before reaching or being able to reach first base...
the play is stopped and the kicking team can substitute a new kicker
the kicker must still make it to first base before being tagged out.
the kicker will be allowed a medical timeout but must be able to kick again.
All of these would be considered unsportsmanlike conduct, except:
discouraging a team member that is present from playing in any game
checking Grindr in the outfield
If a runner comes off a base or begins to run before the ball is kicked, the runner is
forced to return to the starting base and the kicker is given a strike.
called safe if the runner makes it to the base without being tagged.
Which of these scenarios would result in an encroachment call?
The second baseman leaves the base and moves closer to the pitcher before a ball is kicked.
The entire outfield moves deeper into outfield after the ball is pitched.
The shortstop moves in front of the pitcher after the ball is pitched but before it is kicked.
The short stop begins to move forward during a pitch but does not cross the invisible 1st-3rd line until the ball is kicked.
If a play occurs and I am not sure what the correct call is, I should.....
...not say anything and pretend no one can see me.
...go to the umpire of the game and explain what I saw to ensure that the correct call is made.
What is the penalty for an encroachment?
A fielding team is allowed a warning for each of the three types of encroachment - pitcher, catcher, and fielder.
A fielding team is given one warning for the first offense and then receives an out on their next kicking lineup for each subsequent offense.
A fielding team is given one warning, regardless of type, for the first offense and the kicker is automatically awarded 1st base for each subsequent offense.
