2024/25 School Site Council: Dana MS- Parent/Guardian Nomination

The Single Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA) shall be developed and recommended by the SSC.  The SSC, following approval of the school plan by the school district governing board, shall have ongoing responsibility to review with the principal, teachers, other school personnel, and pupils the implementation of the plan and annually to assess the effectiveness of such program.  Modifications or any improvement of the plan shall be developed, recommended, and approved or disapproved in the same manner.

The SSC shall review and, as necessary, make recommendations and decisions with regard to budgets defined with the school plan.

In a similar manner the SSC shall also receive or develop general or specific recommendations of the staff, community and/or its own members with regard to evaluation and design of school programs and act as a decision making body on these recommendations.

The Council shall carry out all other duties and responsibilities assigned to it through the Education Code of the State of California.

The SSC shall be composed of ten (10) members:

  1. The principal

  2. One (1) other staff 

  3. Three (3) teachers

  4. Five (5) parents of students attending the school

The parent members shall be self-nominated, shall submit a resume or bio at the time of nomination.  Current parents will be notified electronically and nominations will be solicited in September and ballots with names on them will be distributed in September. Ballots shall be due back to Dana by the end of September and candidates shall be elected by a ballot of the parents with one vote per family.  In each election, the candidates with the highest number of votes shall fill the available vacancies, without a runoff.  If open positions go unchallenged, a vote is unnecessary to fill the vacancy.  Alternates for parents and teachers, if needed, will be identified by the # of ballots and will replace members that were terminated or resigned.  In the event there were no additional candidates, a special election will be held.

  • Tuesday, September 24, 2024 at 3pm
  • Tuesday, October 22, 2024 at 3pm
  • Tuesday, November 19, 2024 at 3pm
  • Tuesday, December 17, 2024 at 3pm
  • Tuesday, January 28, 2025 at 3pm
  • Tuesday, February 25, 2025 at 3pm
  • Tuesday, March 25, 2025 at 3pm
  • Tuesday, April 29, 2025 at 3pm
  • Tuesday, May 20, 2025 at 3pm
