Join the fight against climate change in the new year.
How? Buy preloved items, or repair and reuse old ones. While recycling is good, because of multiple materials that make up many items, they cannot be recycled in a way that is easy, or without further carbon emissions that result from separating materials from one another (for example, while we CAN recycle tyres, that requires incredible amounts of heat, very large magnets, and other industrial equipment that in itself has a substantial carbon footprint).
The best way to reduce the size of our landfills is to keep clothing, furniture, toys, and appliances and anything and everything possible in circulation.
How do we do that? Buy things 2nd hand.
Long term, if we use what we have, we don't need to make new things... and making new items is a process that is very costly to our planet, no matter the item.
We're asking everyone to come together for a New Year's resolution.
Below you can make a pledge for a new year and a brighter future: Nothing New in '22.
Pick an industry, and commit to buying only 2nd hand items for one year in that industry. We've provided some short facts here, but when you choose your industry you will be moved to a new page with more information to help you stick to your pledge.
Together, one small pledge for each of us can mean a giant step in the right direction fighting climate change.
