Presented by the Sunshine Coast Conservation Association and the Sunshine Coast Streamkeepers
September 21st & 22nd at Chaster Creek, Elphinstone. 9 am to 5 pm each day.
With trainers: Dianne Sanford and Angela Kroning
Application form - deadline extended - apply by Sept 12th
To encourage the development of volunteer neighbourhood Streamkeepers groups who are contributing to the stewardship of Sunshine Coast waterways. Though this training will take place in Chaster Creek, we hope to also involve participants who live nearby other streams that they want to care for. Please let us know if there is a particular stream that you're interested in working with.
I'd like to steward this stream:
Is this stream in your neighbourhood / nearby your home?
Have you ever taken a streamkeepers training before?
If yes, where and when?
Participants must be sufficiently fit to be able to participate in hands-on training in Chaster Creek all day, including getting in and out of the creek, walking along the trail, etc. Are you physically capable of participating in this training?
FEE & APPLICATION PROCESS
We have twelve spaces available for a small fee of $50 each to help cover workshop costs. To meet our goal of encouraging the stewardship of multiple waterways on the Sunshine Coast, we reserve the right to select recipients based on which streams they hope to steward, in addition to the order in which we receive their application.
We will send a confirmation and invoice to selected participants. Registration is confirmed upon receipt of the $50 training fee. We will keep a waitlist for anyone we're unable to accommodate, as we intend to offer future trainings.
Participants will be asked to fill out a survey at the end of the workshop, and will be encouraged to recruit neighbours & friends to take part in streamkeeping activities. All participants who successfully complete the training will receive a Streamkeepers certificate from the Pacific Streamkeepers Association.
Thank you for your interest in our Streamkeepers training! We'll be in touch soon.
This workshop is made possible thanks to support from many partners, including: the Sunshine Coast Streamkeepers, donations of time by volunteers and our trainers, Dianne Sanford and Angela Kroning, and contributions from anonymous donors.
