People's Fund application
This fund is for people who can't afford the minimum sliding fee amount of any PMC practitioner. We ask that all recipients give something towards their session, no matter how small. Each individual who applies is welcome to receive up to six sessions supported by this Fund. We determine fund pay-outs based on 1) our commitment to centering the lives and experiences of POCI (people of color and indigenous) people and queer/trans people and 2) paying attention to how the fund is shared out among practitioners. We also ask that, if your sessions are supported by the fund, you spread the word and invite others to give so that the fund keeps going.

For something like this to work, each one of us has to honestly self-assess and then be willing to stretch. The questions to consider: how much can I truly afford? What is the value of this work for me? Do you automatically think – “oh, I don’t have any money” and see this fund as a way to get cheap bodywork? Stop for a second. Feeling broke and being broke are two different things. Some of what we mean: you might not need this fund if • You regularly buy coffee at coffee shops. • You go out to movies or other social events at least four times a month. • You buy yourself new clothes because you like how they look rather than you have no more warm sweaters. • You regularly pay for things like getting facials or manicures or massages and they are not part of chronic pain management or other life survival issues. • You have ways to get extra income when you need it – by calling your parents, for example • You know you can afford to pay this without needing to think twice about it, even if it feels like a lot of money. Paying full price for bodywork triggers you but you can pay it.

Our goal is to open this fund to those who literally can not afford bodywork at the lower end of a practitioner's sliding fee scale without it. We are excited to share this fund and hope it can continue to build and grow and make healing work more accessible to a wider number of people.

A few things: scheduling with a PMC practitioner is based on whether or not they have openings. A few of the practitioners currently have full practices. If you request sessions with a specific practitioner, we'll let you know if they can not accept a new person. This doesn't mean you can't use the fund, it just means you gotta pick a second choice.

Please use exact numbers, not a range. So, when you write how many sessions you want right now, just list the exact number. If two years from now you want additional sessions, feel free to apply again. Also list the amount you will pay per session and not a range. We know it might change but this helps us navigate the requests for support against the exact dollars we have. We don't want to say yes to your request and then find out that the money is all gone!

When you have filled out this form, please send an email to peoplesmovementcenter@gmail.com. Unfortunately the form does not send us an automatic notification. This way we will see your submission and can respond rapidly.
