Talking Trash: Impacts & Solutions to Marine Debris in Delaware (In-person registration is now FULL)
Please join the Delaware Center for the Inland Bays for our second Winter Lecture Series session - "Talking Trash: Impacts & Solutions to Marine Debris in Delaware" on Thursday, January 26 from 5-7 PM at the South Coastal Library. Kathleen Bergin with DNREC's Division of Watershed Stewardship will provide an overview of marine debris including its impact on navigation and ways to help reduce our impact. Hayden Boettcher, a doctoral candidate in the School of Marine Science and Policy at the University of Delaware, will discuss microplastics and its effect on local marine life. Attendees will have the opportunity to enter to win one of two raffle prizes that help address microplastic pollution. Free terrapin excluder devices (TEDs)—otherwise known as bycatch reduction devices which prevent Diamondback terrapin turtles and other aquatic wildlife from getting trapped in recreational crab pots—will also be available for attendees to take home.

There are two options for attending this hybrid event—in person or virtually (see below for details). Please note raffle prizes and giveaways will be exclusively offered to in-person participants only.
  1. Attendance Option #1: Participate in person at the South Coastal Library located at 43 Kent Avenue, Bethany Beach, DE 19930. Masks are optional, but we kindly ask participants to stay home or join virtually if anyone in your party has been feeling sick. (THIS ATTENDANCE OPTION IS NOW FULL)
  2. Attendance Option #2: Participate virtually via Zoom (https://us02web.zoom.us/j/89772108580).
