42% of academic staff at King’s are on insecure or casualised contracts (including fixed-term, hourly-paid, and externally funded roles). Staff on these types of contracts face particular challenges relating to pay, career progression, working conditions, and job security. Data shows that at King's, women and people of colour are more likely than their counterparts to be on fixed-term / hourly-paid contracts, compounding inequalities.
KCL UCU are conducting this survey to better understand your experiences, so we can work towards improving them! Your responses will directly inform bargaining priorities, campaigns, and negotiations with the university.
It will take <10 minutes to complete. It is open to all KCL academic and professional services staff, not just UCU members.All responses are anonymous unless you choose to provide contact details.

Data protection and storage
KCL UCU are collecting this information to better understand the impact of casualisation on staff. We will use this data to inform our campaigns and in negotiations with management to improve conditions for casualised staff. All data collected via Google Forms will be stored securely and accessed only by UCU reps involved in analysing the survey results. Responses will be processed in accordance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018. Any personal data provided will be used solely for the purposes of this survey and will not be shared with third parties. Survey responses will be retained only for as long as necessary to complete analysis and reporting, after which they will be securely deleted.
