NSLondon Call for Speakers

We’re always looking for new speakers who want to give back to the community by sharing what they've learned.

NSLondon is built on the principle that everyone has something valuable to contribute. We particularly welcome talks from women and underrepresented groups. Diverse voices make for a stronger community.

We look for genuine experience and practical insights, covering both successes and failures. You don't need to be an expert; you just need to have done something worth talking about.

If you’ve built, learned, or tripped over something on Apple platforms, there’s probably a talk in it. You don’t need to be famous. You just need to be genuine.

First-time speakers are very welcome.

Logistics
  • Events are usually on a mid-week evening, in London
  • Venues and AV are provided
  • Talks are sometimes recorded (always with consent)

Details vary by event and will be confirmed in advance.

What we’re looking for

NSLondon talks are:

  • practical
  • experience-led
  • grounded in real work

Good topics include:

  • lessons learned from building an app or feature
  • technical deep dives with real-world context
  • design or product decisions on Apple platforms
  • performance, testing, architecture, or tooling
  • things that went wrong and what you’d do differently

We generally avoid:

  • sales pitches or product demos
  • marketing talks
  • purely theoretical content with no practical angle

If you’re unsure, ask. We’re happy to help shape an idea.

Audience

Our audience includes developers working in Swift on Apple platforms, along with colleagues from design, testing, and product teams.

The audience is mixed:

  • junior to senior developers
  • indie devs, startups, and large companies

Aim to be clear and accessible, but don’t dumb things down.

Support for speakers

We try to make speaking as low-friction as possible:

  • we’ll help you shape the talk
  • we’ll review an outline if you want
  • we can do a practice run if helpful
  • we’ll promote your talk ahead of the event

If it’s your first time speaking, say so. We’ve got you.

Talk Format & Duration

Most events have 2–3 talks per evening.

Slides are common but not mandatory. Live demos are welcome if they’re robust.

Your Availability

NSLondon is volunteer-run, so we plan the speaker calendar a few months ahead (January to November, no events in July or December).

Please tick the months you could do a talk. If there are any months you definitely can’t do, leave them unticked.

This helps us schedule, but it isn’t a guarantee.
