Short Course Proposals

The organizers of FORAMS 2026 invite proposals for short courses to be conducted before or after the symposium in Amherst, MA. Short courses are an excellent opportunity to train students in the foundational practices of foraminiferology or educate the community in a new or emerging technique or application. Short courses often have a long-lasting impact on the attendees and their science, and thus are a major service to the community.

Short Course Leader Responsibilities:

  1. Develop the curriculum for the short course

  2. Prepare course materials, including published course notes

  3. Work with conference organizers to coordinate space, IT support, refreshments, etc. for short course before or after the main conference

  4. Work with the FORAMS Organizing Committee to help advertise the short course

  5. Teach the short course

  6. Follow the code of conduct for the meeting and ensure that short course participants do the same.

By submitting this form you agree to these responsibilities.

All Short Courses will be self-supporting, meaning all the money to run them will come from short course registration fees charged to participants, in addition to conference registration. If your short course is selected you will work with the FORAMS 2026 Organizing Committee to establish a budget reflecting all the costs of your course (room reservations, catering, IT support, printed materials, etc.).
